Richmond Virginia Travel Guide
A few weekends ago Jaimey planned a surprise Birthday getaway for me to Richmond, Virginia. Being that it is only an hour away from our home town of Charlottesville, I have been a few times for a short day trip or an errand. I have never had a full weekend in the city, which allowed for so many more activities and exploration time. We spent some time shopping in Carytown, eating delicious food in the Fan District, and perusing fine arts in the Museum District. Keep reading to see what we did and must go spots for your trip to Richmond!
We stayed at the beautifully designed Quirk Hotel in the Fan District. It's decor is a mix of feminine class and modern. The rooms are spacious and airy with large windows and beautiful city views. The lobby has the cutest restaurant and bar, with a delicious breakfast menu I might add. Definitely the #1 place to stay in my opinion. Located near lots of great shops and restaurants.
Adjacent to the hotel is the Quirk Gallery and gift shop featuring local artists and cute trinkets and take home gifts. During our stay we spent some time admiring the art and shopping through all the cute gift items.
On Saturday, we started the day with some great coffee at Lamplighter Coffee Roasters on Morris Street. I had heard great things about Lamplighters from some friends in the coffee industry who highly suggested checking it out. Definitely didn't disappoint. The right way to begin the morning with a warm cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious coffee. I have really been into Cortado's lately and there's was perfect. After that we spent some time shopping in Carytown. Here are a few of my favorite spots:
Clementine - Another super cute consignment store, I loved their jewelry and bought a few pairs of their earrings.
Mongrel - Richmond's cutest card and gift shop, full of so many fun trinkets, games, books, paper goods...etc. I loved every item.
Shopping always makes me hungry so we stopped in at Sen Organic Small Plate for a giant bowl of Pho. My favorite noodle soup ever! I could eat it every day. Lots of yummy food and drink options and a quaint little zen garden like atmosphere.
After our adventures in Carytown we explored the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Jaimey and I had fun exploring the modern art gallery and the sculpture gardens together.
We also discovered some other awesome restaurants as well and ate lots of yummy food, which I will share below.
Saison - Great bar and staff with delicious cocktails, also the most amazing skillet cornbread. Definitely check it out for the perfect nightcap.
Graffiato - Chill atmosphere and delicious Short Rib Ravioli. Right across the street from the Quirk Hotel.
Overall it was a wonderful weekend getaway! Thanks to my bae for planning it for me! Definitely check out the must see spots I shared next time you're in the city!
